Inis Esther Russell Lathrop
1901-1962
from "William Russell Famly" by Opel Louise Currier
Inis was the baby of the family and much adored by her brothers and sisters. She was born at Shelburn when her mother was 49 and her father was 69. She attended school at Shelburn and Macleay. After graduating from the 8th grade, she attended Salem High School. She lived in Salem and batched with two other students before the parents moved to Salem.

Inis married Earl Lathrop before completely finishing school. He was with Standard Oil in Portland so they lived there. In fact, all except one or two years of their married life, they lived in Portland. Later he began working in the U.S. National Bank where he received many promotions.
They had an acreage in West Portland and for years ran a small dairy. He built Inis her dream home. They had a family of four daughters. The last two were twins. They were a very devoted and religious family. They were members of the Baptist Church. Inis died at the age of 61 of a sudden fatal heart attack in 1962.

Earl remarried in 1964 to Beulah Grieve. He died in 1978 at 78 years old.
